What Is Honda Sensing? Protecting Salinas Families

2023 Honda CR-V Honda Sensing

In their Honda Sensing review, CNET states that Honda Sensing has “now been fitted to 1 million vehicles.” But what is Honda Sensing, and why is it so popular? Honda Sensing is a safety suite that’s standard on select new vehicles, such as theHonda AccordandHonda Pilot. With Honda Sensing, you can drive more confidently in Salinas, knowing the system has your back—as well as your front and side.

Whether you’ve recently bought a Honda model or are thinking about getting one, you should know just how helpful this technology can be for your drives around town. Find out more about Honda Sensing below with Salinas Honda! We will review the system’s features and explain how to disable it if you feel overwhelmed.

What’s Included In The Honda Sensing Package?

Honda Sensing features several technologies to help you stay aware of your surroundings on Monterey roads:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) helps brake the car if a collision with a straight-ahead vehicle seems likely.
  • Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM) uses a small camera to detect road markings and will alert you if you begin to leave the road.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) helps you maintain a preset following distance.
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) automatically adjusts steering to bring you back to the center of the lane if you begin to drift.
  • Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) uses a camera to detect and alert you to speed limit signs.

Can You Turn Off Honda Sensing?

You might be wondering whether Honda Sensing is worth it if you don’t want to use its features all the time. Honda Sensing is absolutely worth it. You can turn off Honda Sensing at any time by pressing the button under ECON. LKS can be turned off by pushing the MAIN button on the steering wheel until the indicators in the instrument cluster are gone.

You can also configure Honda Sensing settings via the optional central touchscreen. Hit “Settings,” “Vehicle Settings,” and then “Drive Assist Setup.” This allows you to change RDM warnings, distance warnings for CMBS, and more!
